Thetis Pharmaceuticals Appoints Gerald Nabozny, PhD, as Director, Translational Science
ESSEX, Conn.— November 5, 2025—Thetis Pharmaceuticals, LLC (“Thetis”), a clinical-stage company developing TP-317, a first-in-class, oral resolvin E1 drug candidate targeting the BLT1 receptor to treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), today announced the appointment of Gerald Nabozny, PhD, as Director, Translational Science.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Nabozny to Thetis,” said Gary Mathias, co-founder and CEO of Thetis. “His experience around the research and translational biomarker strategies for spesolimab and risankizumab will be invaluable to Thetis as we advance TP-317 into a Phase 1b clinical trial in moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis.”
Dr. Nabozny is an immunologist and inflammation biologist with close to 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development. He previously was a Highly Distinguished Research Fellow in the Department of Immunology and Respiratory Diseases Research at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals (“Boehringer”). There he was a member of the department’s executive leadership team and played a central role in the discovery, development, and approval of spesolimab (Spevigo®) and in the discovery and early development of risankizumab (Skyrizi®), which was subsequently licensed to AbbVie. At Boehringer, Dr. Nabozny established and led a group focused on disease positioning and early biomarker discovery, developing target engagement, pharmacodynamic, and disease-associated biomarker strategies for transfer into clinical trials. He completed a Research Fellowship in the Department of Immunology at the Mayo Clinic and Medical School and holds a Ph.D. in immunology.
“I am delighted to join Thetis as TP-317 enters clinical development in patients,” said Dr. Nabozny. “Resolution biology offers a differentiated approach to restoring tissue and immune homeostasis, and I look forward to building the translational and biomarker program that will define the activity of TP-317 in patients with IBD.”
About Thetis Pharmaceuticals
Thetis is a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company focused on developing new therapies for IBD and oncology. Thetis' lead candidate, TP-317, is a first-in-class, oral Resolvin E1 (RvE1) drug candidate that engages the BLT1 receptor to activate the body’s natural ability to restore tissue and immune homeostasis. In a Phase 1a study, TP-317 was well tolerated and demonstrated target engagement. A Phase 1b proof-of-mechanism trial in moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis patients will begin recruiting in Q4-2026. Thetis is supported by the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and private investors.
